This wine is a blend of 50% Chardonnay, 30% Pinot Noir and 20% Pinot Meunier, resulting in a fine wine which is powerful but not aggressive, with an agreeable freshness, supple roundness on the palate and a clean and fruity finish.

It is aged a minimum of four years in the cellars before shipment (well over the legal minimum for Brut Champagne which is 18 months.

Pleasant, well-balanced, with a light golden color, this wine is very mature and ready to drink immediately. The bouquet has a hint of citrus, with flowers, and lemon peel. It is an ”easy Champagne” you can have for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and all night long. Delicious as an aperitif, and equally delightful with a dessert.

Light, bright gold. Musky lemon rind and floral aromas, with suggestions of herbs and green tea. Dry and nervy on entry, picking up flesh with air and offering gently sweet citrus and orchard fruit flavors, with a hint of anise. Smoothly melds energy with depth and finishes with good, stony grip and an echo of honeysuckle.Subtle and mellow, with an intriguing nutty aroma. It has mature flavors that are dominated by toasty, buttery components. Very harmonious from beginning to end, with a long finish. Perfect as an ap?ritif with its luscious pear flavors. The NV Brut reveals attractive notes of smokiness, minerals, white peaches and flowers on a medium-bodied frame. This finessed Chardonnay offers excellent length, with lingering notes of minerality that frame the finish. This is Lot # L8117607, disgorged June, 2007. Note: I also tasted Lot # L8128307, disgorged October, 2007, which was quite similar, although it was perhaps a touch shorter on the palate. Anticipated maturity: 2008-2010.

The House of Champagne Delamotte is the fifth-oldest Champagne house in the region, founded in 1760 and located in the heart of the Côte des Blancs in Le Mesnil-sur-Oger. Sister house and contiguous to the House of Champagne Salon, Delamotte produces no more than 50,000 cases annually, ensuring that the vineyards of Delamotte dominate the expression of its wines, defining the house’s elegant, mineral style. Through hard work in the vineyards and long aging in the cellars, the House of Champagne Delamotte has come to be recognized as one of the leading Champagne producers in the Cote des Blancs.
