A stunning offering, this is the finest port yet tasted from Gould Campbell. Its saturated purple color is accompanied by aromas of chocolate, blackberry liqueur, smoke, and white flowers. Packed and stacked, with moderate sweetness, high tannin, and a formidable, backstrapping intensity, this impeccably made, rich 2000 will drink well between 2010-2030. A sleeper!
Lots of licorice, berry and floral character in this young Vintage Port. Full-bodied, with lots of silky tannins and a long, ripe and sweet finish. A beauty. Best after 2011. 4,000 cases made.Saturated deep ruby. Explosive aromas of blackberry, raspberry and spices, all lifted by a floral element. Juicy, grapey and primary, but already reveals lovely inner-mouth floral perfume. Not hugely dense or sweet but sharply delineated, with firm acids contributing to the impression of structure. Boasts an exhilarating sugar/acid balance and noteworthy vibrancy. Finishes firmly tannic and long.
Inky blackish-purple, opaque, slips down the sides of the glass in sheets rather than mere "legs," already throwing enough sediment in the bottle to make decanting advisable. Characteristic Port aromas, more restrained than forward; plummy fruit with herbal nuances. Dried plum aromas open up with swirling in the glass, along with a distinct alcoholic edge. Abundant fruit shows on the palate, plummy and ripe, full-bodied and unctuous with back notes of dark chocolate, Acidic "grip" and fiery tannins build structure but make it a bit challenging to enjoy this wine young despite its ripe and appealing fruit
